Our Story

Founding:

Founded on the Seattle waterfront in 1982, Williamson & Associates quickly became a pioneer in marine geophysics, deep-tow side-scan sonar, and subsea research and development. Founder and namesake Mike Williamson, together with longtime operations manager Art Wright, built a company defined by innovative thinking and fearless problem-solving in the demanding world of ocean science and technology. Their commitment to technical excellence and creative engineering established Williamson & Associates as a trusted partner for oceanographic research, commercial exploration, and subsea technology development worldwide.

A New Era:

In 2019, under the leadership of longtime employees Robert Millsap and Max Schlereth, Williamson & Assoicates—now known as Wassoc—entered a new era of growth and innovation. Evolving from its geophyscial roots into a full-spectrum subsea engineering and technology firm, the company continues to embody the spirit of ingenuity that defined its early years while expanding into advanced subsea systems engineering, robotics, imaging, and instrumentation.
