ABC: Animal-Borne Camera

The ABC (Animal-Borne Camera) is a compact, stand-alone imaging system designed for animal-borne marine research. Integrated low-impact illumination, onboard recording, and rechargeable battery provide a simple and effective solution for collecting high-quality underwater imagery during field deployments.

The ABC is configured and charged through its USB-C interface, allowing users to quickly prepare the system for deployment. Once attached to an animal-borne platform, the camera records high-definition video to internal solid-state storage while the integrated near-IR illumination system provides low-impact lighting to minimize species avoidance. Following recovery, recorded data can be downloaded wirelessly via Wi-Fi or directly through the USB-C connection. The rechargeable battery and high-capacity storage options support extended deployments across a wide range of marine research applications.
